Cilantro can be grown in pots or in gardens. It is a versatile herb that can be used in a variety of recipes. It is particularly tasty in salsas and dips. Just because you pick off some cilantro to use doesn’t mean you should toss out the plant. Just give it some time, and it will regrow. You will soon have more cilantro for future recipes.

Mint is an herb that can be used in jellies and jams, teas, coffee, and plenty of dishes. It’s also easy to grow. You never want to plant mint directly in the ground because it spreads so quickly and can be invasive. Growing some in a pot in your window is a great option. The mint regrows after you take the leaves, so you never run out.

Green Onions (Scallions)

Green onions (also known as scallions) are great for salads, tacos, and just about anything you want to add them to. Most people like to keep some on hand at all times. You don’t have to run to the store when you run out. Just put the unused part with roots in a glass of water and place it near the window. They will grow new shoots that can be cut and used however you like.

Garlic isn’t just tasty; it has a lot of medicinal properties that can help you fight off infections and heal faster. Garlic can be added to a variety of dishes, and it is the most potent when it is fresh. Don’t throw out your unused or old garlic. Plant it and watch new garlic grow.

Celery is one of those foods that you can easily eat as much of as you want. It’s good in roasts, soups, or just dipped in peanut butter. Once you have cut off the parts you want to use, plant the ends in a glass of water or in moist soil and watch it grow.

A lot of people grow tomatoes from seed packets, but you can grow them from the seeds inside the tomatoes just the same. Simply save the seeds or just bury an entire half of a tomato. As it decomposes, it will help the seeds grow better.

Romaine Lettuce

Instead of throwing away the center of your romaine lettuce, use it to grow new lettuce. Simply plant it in potting soil and wait for the leaves to poke through. You can regrow it outside or inside. You can do this as many times as you need to.
